About Saint Germain Academy of Dance
Saint Germain Academy of Dance is a dance studio located on Bridge Street in Saint Matthews, South Carolina. We believe that the art of dance should be accessible to everyone and we emphasize that dance is both an art form as well as a sport. SGAD was established in May 2017, and opened in August, 2017. We believe in positive teaching and enforce the use of proper technique in all styles of dance offered.
Hunter Hughes is the sole owner and choreographer at Saint Germain Academy of Dance. She studied ballet for 11 years under Mrs. Jean Reid with the Calhoun County Studio of Dance, moving on to major in Dance Performance at Winthrop University. While there, she participated in a contemporary piece choreographed by Ashlee Ramsey, known as "Universe Within". After her time at Winthrop, she taught ballet for a year with New Attitude Performing Arts Center, a competitive dance studio located both in Rock Hill, SC, and Locust, NC. Now, she wants to bring the art of dance back to St. Matthews and coach girls from Calhoun County to compete across the state and nation.
